Teaching Philosophy

Debbie Lee Silao is a passionate cello instructor who fosters a learning environment focused on relaxation, dedication, and joy. 
Her approach combines proper technique with mental clarity, ensuring physical ease while helping students experience their full potential. 
Each lesson is personalized to fit the unique needs and learning styles of her students.

Holistic Approach

Lee Silao’s holistic method prioritizes both the individual goals of her students and the musical aspects of cello playing. Lessons are engaging, musically enriching, and include history and theory for a well-rounded experience.

Fundamentals

She emphasizes mastering the basics, focusing on posture, hand positioning, and bow exercises to build tone, control, and comfort. 
Scales and études improve instrument familiarity and technique.

Performance Driven

Lee Silao helps students overcome technical challenges and performance anxiety, providing regular assessments and feedback to guide steady progress. Participating in competitions, auditions, and performances are highly recommended.

  • Ms. Debbie helped my 10-year old daughter prepare for her middle school orchestra audition. We only had a few lessons before the audition, but she was patient and gave clear instructions. The tips and corrections she gave to my daughter helped her performance tremendously, and my daughter made it into the orchestra! She was great!

When I was done playing my songs she helped me work on the parts I needed to work on and get it down.
